2007 Fullcourt Press Spring Showcase Report: 2010/2011
By Dinos Trigonis
(June 30, 2007)

The annual Fullcourt Press Spring Showcase was held recently and as was the case with previous editions, there was no shortage of talent and offense.

Four classes (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) were on hand and they gave us plenty of evidence of both the present and future.  In this third (and last) report, I will focus on the 2010 and 2011 players that took part.

Class of 2010

Gary Franklin                                   6’1”     2010   Mater Dei (Santa Ana CA)

Coming off a second arm surgery which forced him to miss most of his freshman season, Franklin (although not always consistent so far in his early HS career) has shown me enough to be optimistic about his future as a high-major lead guard.  Very pesky defender has real ability to knock down three-point shots.  Attended recent Nike Hoop Jamboree in St. Louis MO.

Tyler Lamb                                       6’5”     2010   Colony (Ontario CA)

Skilled wing has quite a national rep as a long distance marksman, but his ballhandling and passing skills of late have also been noticed by scouts and elite national programs.  Josh Shipp-type wing attended recent Nike Hoop Jamboree in St. Louis MO.

Kendall Williams                             6’1”     2010
Los Osos (Rancho Cucamonga CA)

Smooth point has great long-term potential to be a star in this class.  Silky ballhandler has excellent ability to find open teammates.  Potential national sleeper.

Deon Jackson                                 6’3”     2010
Hoover (San Diego CA)

Athletic wing is great attacking the basket and is a San Diego prospect definitely worth tracking in this class.

Troy Leaf                                          6’1”     2010
Foothills Christian (Lakeside CA)

Excellent offensive option was a California All-State Freshman selection this year.

Jordan Didier                                  6’7”     2010
Villa Park (Villa Park CA)

Agile post-forward provides a defensive presence and can score when he gets the rock in the paint.

Marek Lagorce                                6’2”     2010
Crossroads (Santa Monica CA)

Very improved and much underrated wing is one to follow.  Crafty scorer has nice court instincts.

Cliff Sims                                          6’4”     2010
Compton (Compton CA)

Athletic wing has a great body and the potential to develop into a mid-major-plus prospect.

Roy Gordon                                     6’1”     2010
Leuzinger (Lawndale CA)

Strong wing has real scoring skills and his sturdy frame allows him to finish with regularity inside.

Kyle Boswell                                   6’1”     2010
Edison (Huntington Beach CA)

Smart combo-guard is a legitimate three-point threat.   Very good student.

Aqueel Quinn                                  5’11”  2010
Leuzinger (Lawndale CA)

Skilled lead guard has a natural feel for the game and a jump shot that is impressive.

Dennis Cid                                       5’10”  2010
Poly (Long Beach CA)

Savvy point can run a team and make things happen at both ends.

Jonathan Conley                            6’4”     2010
Littlerock (Littlerock CA)

Strong wing-forward rebounds well and defends on a consistent basis.

Ethan Ayres                                     5’11”  2010
Mater Dei (Santa Ana CA)

Very good shooter has improved all-around skills.   Excellent student.

Delon Wright                                   5’10”  2010
Leuzinger (Lawndale CA)

Brother of Miami Heat swingman Dorell Wright is still rather raw, but he is athletic who like his older sibling should be a late bloomer.

Christian Heard                              5’7”     2010
Jordan (Long Beach CA)

Small but quick ballhandler handles defensive pressure well.

Kalob Hatcher                                 5’10”  2010
Foothills Christian (Lakeside CA)

Hardworking point knows how to utilize the bounce pass.

Cameron Smith                               6’0”     2010
Etiwanda (Etiwanda CA)

Tough combo-guard can defend.

Dion Hudson                                   5’10”  2010
Bishop Amat (La Puente CA)

Solid ballhandler and passer.

Will Trott                                           5’4”     2010

Eric Rosenthal                               5’9”     2010
Newbury Park (Newbury Park CA)

Heady PG has nice poise.

Class of 2011

Cezar Guerrero                               5’10”  2011
St. John Bosco (Bellflower CA)

Tony Parker-type point is a crafty ballhandler with terrific ability to score both from long-range as well as by taking defenders off the dribble.  At this time, Cezar is arguably the best point I have seen in this 2011 SoCal class.  Invited to UCLA’s elite camp.

Angelo Chol                                     6’7”     2011
Hoover (San Diego CA)

Still very raw, Angelo has a developing feel for the game and the potential to be a post in demand by high-majors.   Excellent shotblocker, rebounder and defender.

Alex Carmon                                    6’1”     2011
Poly (Long Beach CA)

Productive forward is skilled and gets the job done.  Father Troy teamed with Long Beach legend Leroy (“Apple”) Washington (now an assistant at Idaho) to lead Poly (Long Beach CA) to a CIF title in 1981.

Justin Kaminski                              6’5”     2011
Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos CA)

Blue-collar power forward can score on the block and has plenty of time to grow into his size 17 shoes.

Marshawn McMahon                     5’9”     2011
Compton (Compton CA)

Very smart lefty has a great perimeter stroke as well as the savvy you would expect from a veteran floorleader.  Great kid!

Ryan Oliver                                      6’1”     2011
Inglewood CA

Brother of UC-Davis point Vincent Oliver is much taller at same stage and has a real knack for scoring.  Very nice potential.

Alex Zickefoose                              6’1”     2011
Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos CA)

Crafty scorer in the mold of a Kelly Tripucka-type player.
