2007 Fullcourt Press Senior Showcase Report: Part I By Dinos Trigonis (April 2, 2007)   The 2007 Fullcourt Press Senior Showcase was held on Friday March 23rd at Cerritos College (Cerritos CA) and there was plenty of unsigned senior talent present. On hand were several NCAA Division II, III, NAIA and JC coaches as well as scouts like Dinos Trigonis (Fullcourt Press), Gerry Freitas (Hoop Review), Etop Udo-Ema (Fullcourt Press & Hoopmasters), Jorge Calienes (C-Sports) and Dave Keefer and Dave Rogahn (California Preps). Here in Part I of a two part report, we focus on several players who stood out:

Jonathan Wills     6’6”      Sr. Mayfair (Lakewood CA)  Skilled wing with size can really shoot the ball with range.  Mid-major plus prospect had 19 points/10 boards and 4 assists here).   Genesis Maciel     6’9”      Sr. Centennial (Compton CA)  Post man is rugged and has nice touch on his jump shot.  Had 16 points/11 assists here.   Kertd Elisaldez     5’10”    Sr. Villa Park (Villa Park CA)  Scrappy point had an event high 30 points with 3 assists/3 steals here.  Great playmaker is an excellent passer and underrated defender. Lashard Anderson   6’1”      Sr. Serra (San Diego CA)  Smart and savvy playmaker dished out 8 assists here.  Sleeper D-I prospect.   Cheyne Martin      6’2”      Sr. Laguna Beach (Laguna Beach CA) Lefty has nice court instincts and can really shoot the rock with both touch and accuracy.  Had 13 points and handed out 4 assists here.    Cameron Jones     6’3”      Sr. Los Alamitos (Los Alamitos CA) Very solid combo-guard has a great feel for the game (had 14 points/6 rebounds/4 assists here).  Northern Arizona among the schools showing interest.

Larry Anderson                        6’5”      Sr.        Jordan (Long Beach CA)  Crafty and athletic forward can really put the ball in the basket.   Anderson had 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds here.   Marques Richards                    6’4”      Sr.        Culver City (Culver City CA)  Strong and athletic swingman had 15 points/11 boards here.   Andrew Gabellieri                   6’3”      Sr.        Grossetto Italy   Italian sharpshooter has family in the U.S. (scored 17 points and had 7 boards here).   Avner Alkhas               6’3”      Sr.        Northwood (Irvine CA)  Outstanding shooter also does very well in the classroom (4.2 GPA/1800 SAT).  Contributed 12 points/5 boards/3 assists here.   John Johnson              5’11”    Sr.        Centennial (Compton CA) Quick point has a stable handle and is an underrated scorer (had 18 points/7 boards/5 assists here).

Justin McCullough     6’7”      Sr. Sunrise Mountain (Peoria AZ)  Very physical and deceptively athletic post loves to bang down low!  Scored 18 points and grabbed 7 boards here.   Troy Draves     5’11”    Sr. Wilson (Hacienda Heights CA) Small but energetic scorer has legitimate three-point range.   Derrick January     6’5”   Sr. Dominguez (Compton CA)  Quick slicing scorer played well here (20 points/13 boards).   DeAnthony Peterson    6’3”   Sr. Colony (Ontario CA)  Quick off-guard has a scorer’s mentality and is hard to contain off the dribble (had 11 points/4 rebounds here).   Durrell Norman     6’4”      Sr. Serrano (Phelan CA)  Strong and athletic swingman makes plays at both ends of the floor.  Class of 2007 sleeper scored 20 points and grabbed 8 boards here.   Peter Schroeder   6’5”      Sr. South Kent (South Kent CT)  Pacific Palisades native is an agile wing with size and a nice perimeter stroke.    Moala Tautuaa     6’7”      Sr. Clairemont (San Diego CA) Active rebounder and defender scored 11 points here.   Dijon Horne          6’2”      Sr. Ocean View (Huntington Beach CA) Quick combo-guard is an underrated three-point shooter.

Taylor Begg           6’4”      Sr. Diamond Ranch (Diamond Bar CA)  Very good shooter and underrated defender.   George Barbour     6’7”      Sr. Torrance (Torrance CA) Intriguing power-forward runs floor well and is active on the glass.   Patrick Rembert     6’0”      Sr. Lakewood (Lakewood CA) Very heady point is vastly underrated and has a rock-solid handle.

Taylor Begg                             6’4”      Sr.        Diamond Ranch (Diamond Bar CA)  Very good shooter and underrated defender.   George Barbour                       6’7”      Sr.        Torrance (Torrance CA) Intriguing power-forward runs floor well and is active on the glass.   Patrick Rembert                       6’0”      Sr.        Lakewood (Lakewood CA) Very heady point is vastly underrated and has a rock-solid handle.   Sam Goulett                            6’2”      Sr.        Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas NV) Very good shooter has three-point range.   Barrett Brown                         5’9”      Sr.        Mountain Pointe (Phoenix AZ) Very cerebral lead guard handed out 6 assists here.   Chris O’Brien                          6’4”      Sr.        Northwood (Irvine CA)  Big wing has a very good basketball IQ and is an above-average athlete.   Loren Heard                            6’1”      Sr.        Jordan (Long Beach CA)  Quick combo-guard can really score.   Chris Williams                         5’9”      Sr.        Pasadena (Pasadena CA) Small but quick point is difficult to defend in the open court.   Jamaal Veal                            6’5”      Sr.        Alta Loma (Alta Loma CA)  Very improved swingman has nice perimeter skills.  Had 10 points and grabbed 6 boards here.   Ramone Williams                    6’3”      Sr.        Bellflower (Bellflower CA)  Slippery wing can really get to the basket and finish.    ** Part I of a two part series of reports on the Fullcourt Press Senior Showcase.
