The 2009 Pangos Dream Classic will be held on Saturday January 3, 2009 at Long Beach City College (Long Beach CA). This 15th annual high school basketball event (hosted by Cabrillo HS) will showcase twelve of California's and the nation's top boys high school squads, including the nation's #1 team Mater Dei (Santa Ana CA/ESPN-Rise #1) as well as nationally ranked Dominguez (Compton CA/ESPN-Rise #14) and Etiwanda (Etiwanda CA/ESPN-Rise #45).

Past Dream Classic's has showcased many future NBA stars. The 2003 Pangos Dream Classic featured the #1 pick of the 2003 NBA Draft LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers) and attracted 12,500-plus fans, media and scouts to UCLA's Pauley Pavilion as well as a national ESPN2 audience. The 2004 Dream Classic was headlined by three of the top 13 picks of the 2004 NBA Draft: #1 pick Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic), #12 selection Robert Swift (Seattle Supersonics) and the #13 choice Sebastian Telfair (Minnesota Timberwolves). The Pangos Dream Classic has also served as a stage for several other future NBA players like Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics), Baron Davis (Los Angeles Clippers), Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons), Tyson Chandler (New Orleans Hornets), Jason Collins (New Jersey Nets), Jarron Collins (Utah Jazz), Jason Hart (Los Angeles Clippers), Josh Childress (Atlanta Hawks/Greece), Kirk Snyder (Memphis Grizzlies), Luke Walton (Los Angeles Lakers), Casey Jacobsen (Memphis Grizzlies), Corey Benjamin (Orlando Magic), Jeff Trepagnier (Denver Nuggets), Tito Maddox (Houston Rockets), Jamal Sampson (Denver Nuggets), Dijon Thompson (Phoenix Suns), Jordan Farmar (Los Angeles Lakers), Nick Young (Washington Wizards), Javarris Crittenton (Memphis Grizzlies), Arron Afflalo (Detroit Pistons), Bobby Jones (Memphis Grizzlies). Ticket prices (good for all games) are $12 for floor chair-back seating and $10 for general admission  ($7 for students/seniors with ID).
