Trigonis Tidbits:
Watkins Headed for Big 10
(January 8, 2006)
6’4” senior Quinton Watkins (Dominguez/Compton CA) is having an impressive senior season this year and his outstanding play has not gone unnoticed as several schools have jumped on his recruiting bandwagon including Illinois, Arkansas, San Diego State, Miami FL, Utah, Nevada, Washington State and Pepperdine. However, Watkins has decided to pull the trigger and will soon call Champaign IL his future home as he has verbally committed to Bruce Weber and Illinois. This athletic lefty with an accurate outside stroke has the potential to develop into an excellent Big 10 player and was one of the top unsigned wing prospects in the nation prior to his recent verbal.…………..…
6’0” junior playmaker Darian Norris (Mojave/Las Vegas NV) is having a strong season – leading his squad to a #1 ranking in the Las Vegas area (11-2 record) as well as

averaging 19.6 points and 6.7 assists per game. Norris had a 31 point outburst in a 87-85 double OT win over Cimarron-Memorial (Las Vegas NV) last week. Schools showing interest in Norris include Kansas, Oregon State, UNLV, Idaho, Wyoming and Northern Arizona……………………..Cal signee 6’6” Omondi Amoke (Oxnard/Oxnard CA) is having a fabulous senior year as his 25 points/24 rebounds in a win over Ventura (Ventura CA) clearly shows. Ventura’s 6’6” junior James Staniland had 33 points (including 8 “threes”) in a losing effort………………..6’1” Jabari Trotter (Harvard/Westlake/North Hollywood CA) had 27 points in a 75-61 win over Verbum Dei (Los Angeles CA). Trotter is a scoring combo-guard that is an underrated defender……………….6’3” senior Michael Ojo has been a key catalyst of the resurgence of Crossroads (Santa Monica CA) under new coach Kevin Brown this season. Ojo scored 27 points as the Roadrunners defeated Montclair Prep 63-36 last week…………….

6’5” senior swingman Gabe Adler (Poway/Poway CA) is averaging 17.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game this season. 5’11” senior point guard Jacques Streeter (Fremont/Los Angeles CA) scored a game-high 28 points to help the Pathfinders to a 69-63 OT win over Sylmar (Sylmar CA) at the inaugural Johnny Cochran Classic at Cal State Dominguez Hills this past Saturday. Streeter scored 13 of Fremont’s 14 points in the overtime period and was also 9/10 from the free-throw line during the contest. 6’7” soph Victor Rudd was a bright spot for Sylmar and is an athletic and skilled combo-forward with tons of potential…………..6’4” senior Damon Perry scored 20 points and 6’7” junior Tyreese Breshers grabbed 17 boards in Price’s 71-57 win over Hawthorne at the Johnny Cochran Classic. While he did not lead in any statistical category, 6’1” frosh Allen Crabbe (Price/Los Angeles CA) is starting to catch the attention of recruiting scouts due to his outstanding perimeter shooting as well as his startling resemblance to USC star guard Gabriel Pruitt……………..

6’2” soph Dillon Smith (Lone Peak/Highland UT) may not be garnering a lot of minutes this season (playing behind veteran 5’7” senior Ryan Rios) but the skilled point guard with range on his jump shot is one of Utah’s top young prospects to keep an eye on…………..Former Rainer Beach (Seattle WA) star 6’11” CJ Miles has transferred from Kansas to Oregon State. Miles (who will have almost 2 years of eligibility remaining when he becomes eligible in December 2007) gives the Beavers a high-major post presence they have been lacking.
