1st Annual Stoneridge Holiday Prep Classic a Success
In a classic battle of old school vs. new school prep schools, the upstarts of Stoneridge School (Ca), Boys to Men (IL) and Findlay Prep (NV) won 6 of 9 games at the first annual, Stoneridge Holiday Prep Classic that was held last weekend (December 1-3) in Calabasas, CA. South Kent School (CT), Brewster Academy (NH) and St. Thomas More (CT) came into the event ranked #4, #5 and #9 respectively in the latest national prep school poll published by Jeff Goodman of Scout.com.
The event attracted some of the best basketball talent in both the class of 2007 and 2008. The caliber of play and scores reinforced the parity that exists at this elite level of scholastic basketball. 7 of the 9 games played were decided by 9 points or less. Boys to Men finished the event with a perfect 3-0 record. Host, Stoneridge, along with Brewster Academy finished 2-1, while St. Thomas More and Findlay Prep ended up at 1-2. South Kent was winless in its 3 games.
An All Tournament Team consisting of 10 players and an MVP was chosen for the Stoneridge Holiday Prep Classic. The selections were as follows:
