2006 Fullcourt Press All-West Camp

Top 30 All-Star Player Notes

 (in alphabetical order)

Larry Anderson    6’5”   Sr.  Jordan (Long Beach CA)

Athletic slashing scorer runs floor well and finishes effectively in transition.  Excellent defender!

Tyreese Breshers  6’7”  Jr.  Price (Los Angeles CA)

Strong and burly power-forward is active around the basket and plays above the rim when inspired.    Among the best West Coast Class of 2008 post-men!

Deonta Burton  5’11”  Fr. Cabrillo (Long Beach CA)

Sleeper Class of 2010 point has excellent potential!  Quick as a jet with ability to penetrate defenses, Burton is a young PG with much promise.

Dwight Buycks  6’3”  Sr.  7 West Academy (LA CA)

Physical and athletic combo-guard can really score.  Milwaukee WI native will be prepping at a new West Coast prep school: 7 West Academy.

Malcolm Campbell             6’9”     Sr.       Fairfax (Los Angeles CA)

Very improved post has really come on after not playing much as a HS junior at Fairfax.  Campbell (the nephew of former UCLA and NBA center Brad Wright) is an active rebounder and shotblocker with a nice touch in the paint.  Wyoming, San Diego State, Iowa State, Long Beach State, Ohio, Portland, Colgate, UC-Santa Barbara, Cal State Fullerton, Portland State and Columbia are among schools showing interest in this young man that has a size 20 shoe.

Colin Chiverton                  6’5”     Jr.       Mitty (San Jose CA)

High scoring wing-forward has nice perimeter skills and can really get to the basket with immense confidence.

Josh Crawford                    6’11”  2006   Wilson (Long Beach CA)

Agile post with size is an intriguing prospect (is NCAA qualified) that has drawn much interest this July and will likely sign late this summer with Iowa, SMU, San Diego or Long Beach State.

Rome Draper                       6’5”     So.      Etiwanda (Etiwanda CA)

Smooth and silky wing has plenty of offensive weapons and is a name to watch nationally in the Class of 2009.  Draper has the potential to be the top recruit ever out of a program (Etiwanda) that recently produced Darren Collison (UCLA) and Jeff Pendergraph (Arizona State).

Nate Florence                      6’6”     Sr.       Taravella (Coral Gables FL)

Sleek swingman is athletic and attacks the basket with passion in transition.  Mid-major sleeper.

Troy Gillenwater                 6’8”     Jr.       Stoneridge School (Simi Valley CA)

Very skilled PF has uncanny ability to score on the block!    Nationally ranked prospect is a blue-collar attitude away from being a special player.

Seketoure Henry                6’4”     post    Patterson School (Lenoir NC)
Lefty shooter is unorthodox but a highly potent offensive weapon.

Tim Island                             6’6”     Sr.       Stoneridge School (Simi Valley CA)

Island came into camp hoping to improve his chances at a D-I scholarship after expecting to prep his 5th year at Stoneridge, but all that changed after a very impressive camp here which drew several scholarship offers including one that he accepted from Long Beach State.

Brandon Jennings             6’1”     Jr.       Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson VA)

Hoop Scoop’s #1 rising junior showed that he is a true gym rat returning for a 3rd straight year to the FCP All-West Camp.   Jennings has really become more athletic recently which has only made him more dangerous at the point position.

Tyler Lamb                           6’5”     Fr.       Colony (Ontario CA)

Very talented freshman wing has a stroke a lot of seniors wish for.  Great body and underrated ballhander, Lamb has the makings of being a top notch scoring guard with size.

Genesis Maciel                    6’9”     Sr.       Centennial (Compton CA)

Maciel stepped his game up a notch or two this summer – showing that he was worthy of being a sought after mid-major-plus (and maybe higher) prospect.  Great combination of size, inside post moves and solid perimeter shot make him a valuable commodity in the Class of 2007.

Ater Major                             6’11”  Sr.       American International (Sydney Australia)

One of the surprises of the camp, this Sudanese refuge via Australia is an exceptionally skilled “big” that can put the ball on the floor as well as take care of business inside.  Cal, Wyoiming and San Diego State are among the growing number of schools intrigued with the long and athletic Major (who has real long-term NBA potential).

Jamelle McGuire                 6’3”     Sr        Florida Prep (Port Charlotte FL)

Athletic guard has very nice scoring instincts and is an able defender.

Kareem Nitoto                     6’3”     Sr.       San Leandro (San Leandro CA)

Very good combo-guard has the Ivy League hot on his trail (very good student) as well as several Big West and WCC programs in the hunt.  Athletic defender is very impressive beating opponents off the dribble.

Darian Norris                       6’0”     Jr.       Mojave (Las Vegas NV)

Very solid point knows how to direct traffic and get into the gaps of the defense.  Norris’ ability to make plays on both ends and his knack for making the “right” decision make him a respected 2008 lead guard prospect.

John Paul (JP) Olukemi    6’6”     2006   Sonora (La Habra CA)

Impressive scorer is a legitimate threat anywhere from 20’ and in.  Terrific shooting touch when hot!

Quincy Owens                    6’8”     Sr.       7 West Academy (Los Angeles CA)

Physical post is a wide-body that loves to bang down low.  Wisconsin native will prep next year at 7 West.

Redmond Parker                6’7”     post.   St. Thomas More (Oakdale CT)

Athletic and strong forward is a Calabasas (CA) HS product who is looking to prep next year.  Active rebounder and good defensive stopper, Parker showed he could compete with most and be an impact player at the mid-major level or higher.

Tyrone Shelly                      6’6”     Sr.       Crawford (San Diego CA)

Gazelle-type forward is an athletic swingman that runs the floor as well as any at his position.  High scoring wing committed to Pepperdine in July – making him the highest ranked Wave recruit in a long time.

Dominic Stewart                 6’3”     Sr.       Sequoia (Redwood City CA)

Strong as an ox, Stewart is a power guard that does not mind being physical.   Very good ability to score in traffic.

Julian (“Ju Ju”) Stone      6’5”     Sr.       Dos Pueblos (Goleta CA)

Very versatile perimeter player has huge upside at the point position.  Great handle for size and ability to look over defenses make him an intriguing prospect.

Xavier Thames                    6’3”     So       Pleasant Grove (Sacramento CA)

Slithering young wing has “big time” written all over him.  Thames can beat you both with his ability to take guys off the dribble as well as “stop and pop” the 3-point shot.

Malcolm Thomas                6’8”     Sr.       Crawford (San Diego CA)

Perhaps among the most underrated prospects nationally, Thomas is a multi-skilled forward that should have “upside” as his middle name.  Pepperdine got an absolute steal when this athletic player committed to the Waves in June.

Brandon Walker                 6’3”     Sr.       Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland CA)

Scrappy wing has nice scoring skills and is an active rebounder for his size.

Quinton Watkins                 6’4”     Sr.       Dominguez (Compton CA)

Athletic lefty has really honed his perimeter stroke and it showed here.  Stock has risen dramatically after a successful July.

Renaldo Woolridge            6’7”     Jr.       Harvard-Westlake (North Hollywood CA)

Athletic and well-built forward is oozing with long-term potential and showed this summer that he has a legitimate 3-point stroke.  One to watch in national Class of 2008!
