The Fullcourt Press ventured into Sin City last month to gage the current talent level of Vegas' finest ballers. Our first report on this event (already published on this site) focused on juniors (2007) and sophomores (2008). This second report highlights the seniors and freshman that attended.
The top seniors that participated at the 2006 Fullcourt Press Las Vegas Spring Showcase were 6’4” P’Allen Stinnett (Palo Verde/Las Vegas), 6’6” Jonathan Tavernari (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas), 6’5” Nate Schulte (Palo Verde/Las Vegas), 6’6” Juan Patillo (Canyon Springs /North Las Vegas), 6’2” Jamerian Lewis (Centennial/Las Vegas), 6’3” Terrence McGill (Rancho/Las Vegas), 5’9” Andrew Johnson (Western/Las Vegas) and 6’2” Kyle Young (Green Valley/Henderson).
Stinnett signed with Iowa State last fall but was released from his LOI after former Cyclone coach Wayne Morgan was dismissed. P’Allen is an extremely crafty wing who is deceptively athletic and is a very underrated perimeter scorer. Tavernari (reportedly committed to BYU) has tremendous scoring confidence and is a “bull in a china shop” when attacking the basket while Schulte (an excellent student) is a physical wing forward that can get to the basket and finish along with being exceptionally good at drawing fouls and getting to the free-throw line. Patillo is a great athlete with a terrific wing forward physique who is projected a non-qualifier (several top national JUCOs are heavily involved). Lewis is a very effective slashing scorer and able defender, McGill is a good athlete that has nice perimeter skills, Johnson is not a big guard, but proved to be a big time as he exploded for 30 points in this game and Young is one of Nevada’s top shooters. Stinnett, Tavernari, Schulte and Patillo are four of the West’s best unsigned prospects at the moment.
Other seniors that made a positive impression were 5’8” Christopher Scott (Bonanza/Las Vegas), 5’9” Deshawn Williams (Clark/Las Vegas), 6’4” Dominck Hill (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas), 6’6” Tyler Lay (Palo Verde/Las Vegas), 6’7” Justin Null (Foothill/Henderson), 5’7” Efreme Smith (Mojave/Las Vegas), 5’9” Jeff Lieder (Cheyenne/Las Vegas), 5’11” Khabir Muhammad (Centennial/Las Vegas), 6’2” Anton Coleman (El Dorado/Las Vegas), 6’3” Karlton Grant (Mojave/Las Vegas) and 5’10” Mike Flores (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas).
Scott (a good student) is a small but savvy point that can run a team, Williams is a speedy PG that can defend, Hill is an effective slashing scorer, Lay is an underrated rebounder and skilled post, Null has a great post physique with very nice potential to develop into a solid college forward, Smith is a quick playmaker, Lieder (a very good student) is a crafty point that directs traffic well, Muhammad is another PG that has speed and can score in transition, Coleman is a pesky defender, Grant is an athletic defender with scoring skills and Flores is a fundamentally sound playmaker.
Other seniors that participated include 6’1” Shane Thoennes (Cheyenne/Las Vegas), 5’9” Garrett Breen (Cimmaron Memorial/North Las Vegas), 6’2” Leon Sutton (Spring Valley/Las Vegas), 6’6” Ryan Staker (Centennial/North Las Vegas), 6’0” David Daniels (Rancho/Las Vegas) and 5’9” Arice Perkins (Rancho/Las Vegas).
Thoennes is a scrappy combo-guard, Breen is a solid ballhandler, Sutton is an active defender, Staker is a hardworking forward that does not mind to bang inside, Daniels is an effective slasher and Perkins handles the rock well under duress.

While the Freshmen (Class of 2009) are not as overall talented as the sophomores or juniors, there are some prospects worth tracking, the most notable being 6’5” Milos Knezevic (Coronado/Henderson), 5’6” Jesse Chippoletti (Spring Valley/Las Vegas), 5’10” Kylel Coleman (Las Vegas HS/Las Vegas), 5’10” Tommy Tebbs (Coronado/Henderson) 5’7” Czar Robotham (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas), 5’11” Daryl Stennis (Durango/Las Vegas) and 6’2” 8th grader Christopher Perry (Findley MS/Las Vegas).
Knezevic missed his freshman year due to a HS eligibility dispute involving his home residence and appears headed to Chapparal HS for his sophomore year. Milos (15 points in this game) is a skilled and physical forward that finishes well in traffic and is an aggressive rebounder, Chippoletti is a fast point that pushes the rock quickly and is a nice little floor general (Jesse scored 11 points here and had numerous assists), Coleman is a very good athlete and versatile scorer (had 15 points here), Tebbs is a nice PG with a high basketball IQ and an accurate jump shot out to 20 feet, Robotham is an outstanding perimeter shooter (had a game-high 17 points here), Stennis is very good taking defenders off the dribble while Perry (younger brother of Washington player Harvey Perry Jr. and one of the top 8th graders in the West) is a great athlete with much promise (scored 14 points in this game).
Other freshmen that participated include 5’10” Jordan Hattar (Spring Valley/Las Vegas), 5’10” Dillon Alvarez (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas), 5’7” Anil Kundanani (Centennial/Las Vegas), 5’8” Vince Postell (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas), 5’8” Raphael Finley (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas), 6’1” Anthony Marshall (Mojave/Las Vegas), 6’2” Alec Thomas (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas) and 5’6” Brett Hoisiongton (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas).
Hattar is a very sound lead guard with nice court instincts, Alvarez is a very good shooter, Kundanani is a sound ballhandler, Postell is a solid defender, Finley is a strong guard that can get to the basket and finish, Marshall is an athletic wing that runs the floor well, Thomas is a nice perimeter scorer and Hoisiongton is a scrappy PG.
8th grader Johnathan Loyd (Faith Lutheran MS/Las Vegas) also played and the younger brother of Michael Jr. (Palo Verde) and Kevin (Bishop Gorman) showed off a quick handle and nice basketball IQ.
