Stoneridge Prep Dumps Summer Hill 74-59

JACKSON, MA. Stoneridge Prep finally received a complete team effort in downing Summer Hill (GA) by the score of 74-59 in the NEAA Elite National Tournament being held in Jackson, MA. Ten players from Stoneridge shared major minutes with nine ending up in the scoring column.
Stoneridge Prep broke open a tight game that had them leading at intermission by only 2 points (36-34). The second half saw Stoneridge Prep tighten up their defense and play unselfishly on the offensive end.
Djibril Thiam (6’9”) led the way with 15 points including 10 in the decisive 2nd half. All 4 Stoneridge “bigs” contributed to the winning cause and were again led by 6’11” Mamadou Diarra who chipped in with 12 points. Juniors Boubacar Sylla (7’1”) and Ibrahima Thomas (6’11”) also made key baskets in the game and contributed a strong post defense. The game also marked the first significant minutes in weeks for Hamady N’diaye (6’11”) whose hustle and rebounding were instrumental in the team’s second half run.
It was also scoring by committee at the 2 and 3 positions for Stoneridge. Starters Herb Tanner (6’4”) and Marvin Adams (6’4”) scored 7 points each and the team got a major lift from reserves Al Brown (6’5”) and Mahamoud Diakite (6’7”) as they each tallied 8 points. Starting point guard 6’1” Shane Mahoney has been the team’s ironman. He played all 40 minutes handing out a game-high 9 assists while scoring 6 points.
Stoneridge Prep finishes pool play today with the semi finals of the tournament scheduled for Friday afternoon at 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
