By Dinos Trigonis

(April 5, 2010)

The 2010 Fullcourt Press Senior Showcase was held on Friday March 26th at Lynwood High School (Lynwood CA) and there was plenty of unsigned senior talent present.  On hand were several NCAA Division II, III, NAIA and JC coaches as well as scouts like Dinos Trigonis (Fullcourt Press & Hoop Scoop), Etop Udo-Ema (Fullcourt Press & Hoopmasters), Sean Ceglinsky (Nothing But Net & SLAM Magazine) and Roy White (WestCoastHoopsReport.com).

Here in Part I of a two part report, we focus on several players who stood out:

Solomon Singer                       6’5”      Santa Monica (Santa Monica CA)

Athletic wing with size has excellent ability to slash and finish above the rim and has an underrated perimeter stroke.  Mid-major-plus potential.

Clint Bozner                             6’7”      Villa Park (Villa Park CA)

Strong and bouncy combo-forward has a unique inside-out offensive game.  Bozner can stroke the “three” from deep or drop-step on his defender and flush it down with authority.  Very good student (3.6 GPA).

David Hall                                6’5”      Lynwood (Lynwood CA)

Very long and slinky swingman has really improved and is now a legitimate a D-I sleeper.  Hall has ability to play above the rim as well as navigate to the basket off the dribble from the perimeter.

Kelvin Smith                6’6”      Impact Prep (Las Vegas NV)
One of the stars of the event is a very productive post-forward who can also stretch defenses with his perimeter range.   Very good student (3.8 GPA/1250 SAT).

Corey Walker                6’3”      Santa Monica (Santa Monica CA)

Very underrated combo-guard has really come-on as of late and is a versatile scorer and potential lock-down defender.

Very physical combo-guard is a stingy defender that can score in traffic.

Aqeel Quinn                             6’4”      Leuzinger (Lawndale CA)

Quinn is an assertive lead guard that can play both guard spots.  Stock is definitely on the rise.

Slick ballhandler is very quick off the dribble and has ability to penetrate defenses with regularity.

Tyler Goldston             6’3”      Bishop Amat (La Puente CA)

One of the surprises of the event, Tyler is an “under-the-radar” 2010 wing that impacts the game on both ends of the floor.  Very good student (3.3 GPA/1420 SAT).

Harrison Hawkins                     5’10”    Centennial (Compton CA)

Confident point has really evolved into a superb outside shooter.

Myles Carrillo               6’0”      Foothill (Santa Ana CA)

Sleeper off-guard has an excellent all-around game as well as a terrific academic resume (3.8 GPA/1620 SAT).

Garrett James               5’10”    Stoneridge (Simi Valley CA)

Small playmaker is a tough guard that can really knock down perimeter shots.

Mark Jackson               6’3”      Taft (Woodland Hills CA)

Son of ESPN sportscaster and former NBA point guard of the same name is not the most explosive lead guard in this class but like pops has excellent size for a PG as well as an impressive basketball IQ.

Raymond Alexander III6’1”      Lynwood (Lynwood CA

Alexander gives defenders problems with his ability to penetrate and finish.

Cochran has quality size and is a banger on the boards with nice ability to score with his back to the basket.  Very good student.

Agile and athletic swingman plays tenacious defense.
