The FCP Bay Area Showcase was held on Monday June 13th at Dream Courts in Hayward CA.  Besides the Fullcourt Press' own Dinos Trigonis and Carl Foster, other scouts present included NorCal guru Lee Hubbard and representatives from NorCal Preps, Cal-Hi Sports and Yay Area's Finest.

This is the first of three game-by-game reports by Carl Foster.

Top Prospect:

1) David Andoh – 6’7” 2012 (St. Mary's/Berkeley CA)* This highly versatile forward is smooth, active, and assertive with the ball in his hands. He is able to score from mid range, around the rim, and he can make a play for teammates quite easily. He needs to become a much better defender on the perimeter to play small forward consistently. He is a high major small forward prospect, who would be a BEAST at the mid major level.

Solid Prospects:

1) Tajai Johnson 6’2” 2012 (Vallejo/Vallejo CA) * A tweener guard who makes up for his size with a tenacious appetite for making plays. He is an animal getting to the rim. He has floaters, pull ups, and an ability to dunk on people when necessary. He is long, active defensively. Needs a more consistent with his deep ball to be a true off guard. He is a low major prospect right now!

2) Aubrey Dawkins – 6’3"  2013 (Palo Alto/Palo Alto CA)* A guard who is a good deep ball shooter. He is the son of a coach (Johnnie Dawkins – Stanford), so you know that he plays the game the “right way”. He is a good athlete, but may need to grow to become a highly productive D1 player. He is smart with the ball and makes the next pass when an open shot is available.

3) Richard Meek – 6’5” 2012 (Hill/San Jose CA)* Hard-nosed player who has a chance to develop it he can garner some more skills before entering college. He plays super hard, but needs more finesse in his game. He is a tremendous rebounder for his size, but he needs to be more skilled to play D1 ball after high school Might need a couple of years of JUCO to help smooth out his game.

4) Marquis Clark – 6’4” 2012  (Grant/Sacramento CA)* A classictweener. Plays like a power forward, but has the size of a wing. He was quite active, but didn’t possess many marketable skills on the perimeter. He plays with great energy in the mid post; so he is good for the high school level. However, without great explosiveness around the rim, he’ll be forced to play Power Forward in many situations.

5) Cameron Oliver – 6’5” 2014 (Grant/Sacramento CA) Another player with solid tools, but didn’t possess classic Wing skills. He wasn’t tall enough to be a true Small Forward, so he will need to become a better scorer or slasher to make a living at it. Rebounds O.K., but he does a good job of collecting loose balls, and competes hard.
