NCAA TEAM REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Team Registration - All teams participating at an NCAA certified event must register online prior to reporting to participate in the event. Coaches are expected to keep their online rosters updated.

The same address and telephone number cannot be utilized for multiple athletes. In addition, it is not an acceptable practice for prospects' coaches to substitute their own demographic information for that of the prospective student athlete. It is important that the prospect and his/her family retain the opportunity to exercise control over the recruiting process, so please ensure that each prospect's demographic information is submitted.

Failure register or to submit all required information will result in the team being denied participation in all NCAA certified events. YOUR TEAM WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT if you do not complete this process before you come to Los Angeles. Once you have entered your team information on the NCAA site make sure you designate the Fullcourt Press Cream of the Crop Challenge as a tournament your team intends to attend. A team’s failure to designate our event will result in our inability to access your team’s information.

Note: You do not have to create a new username and password each year. Once you have created an account, there is no need to create another one. You can enter multiple teams AND have access to change your contact information as is necessary from year to year.


SUMMER COACHES APPROVAL PROCESS

All individuals who engage in coaching activities at the Pangos Summer Sweet 16 must be approved prior to participation through the NCAA Coaches' Approval Program. The Lexis/Nexis approval issued to a coach is good for a two-year period. The "two-years" is applied as the year in which the approval is granted and the following year. The two-years is not a literal two years from the specific date the approval was issued. For example, if a coach receives an approval on July 3, 2007, that approval will be effective for the remainder of 2007 and will expire December 31, 2008. Lexis/Nexis will send an e-mail reminder when expiration is approaching. The coaches' approval process involves an application, verification of criminal background, authorization for release of information and completion of an educational component. The entire process must be accessed and completed online through the NCAA basketball certification web site under Coaches’ Approval.

This process will cost you $40 to complete and results will be completed in approximately 3 to 7 business days. IN ORDER FOR ANY COACH (including assistants) TO SIT ON THE BENCH DURING THE EVENT THIS PROCESS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE YOU ARRIVE IN LOS ANGELES. FOR THE TOURNAMENT TO REMAIN A CERTIFIED NCAA SUMMER EVENT, THIS PROCESS WILL BE ENFORCED WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. Don't wait to last minute to do this. Some coaches during last summer’s events had to sit out their first couple of games because they did not complete this process before they arrived.


PARTICIPATING PLAYER RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

All prospective players participating in the event must reside in:
1. The same state as their team's official address; or
2. A adjoining state, provided that no more than three team member(s) reside in adjoining states.

FOR OUR TOURNAMENT TO REMAIN A CERTIFIED NCAA SUMMER EVENT WE ARE REQUIRED TO VERIFY PRIOR TO COMPETITION THAT ALL PARTICIPANTS HAVE MET THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS.

In situations in which a team includes players from a metropolitan area located on a state border, the team may include more than three team members from adjoining states as long as each additional player resides within the metropolitan area. Residency is determined by the player's legal residence or the legal residence of his parent or legal guardian. An international player may use the legal address of the player's host family, provided the player, for a minimum of one academic year, has been a part of an educational exchange program or has attended high school locally while residing with the host family. Prep school players can use the address of the prep school for residency purposes if they have attended the prep school for at least one school year previous to the tournament.


MANDATORY EDUCATIONAL SESSION
You and your entire team will be required to attend a comprehensive educational session during tournament that will review NCAA initial eligibility standards, gambling, agents and drug use. When you check in your team once you have arrived in Los Angeles, you will be assigned a specific time and location to attend this session. All players and coaches are required to attend.  After you attend this session your team will receive their tournament t-shirts. If you miss your session and you do not attend another session, your team will be eliminated from participating in upcoming event games.


PROHIBITIVE CONTACT
No team coach or player can have contact with any NCAA coach during the tournament. This includes, but is not limited to, the game sites as well as the hotel. At the game sites teams and coaches will be required to enter and sit on the opposite side of the gymnasium from the NCAA coaches.  Please cooperate. Our gym site supervisors will strictly enforce this provision, as our NCAA certification depends on it.


PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
In order for a player to be eligible to participate in the event, he must have high school eligibility remaining or be going to enroll in his first year of prep school in the fall of 2008 and meet the NCAA residency rule discussed above. A GRADUATED SENIOR IS INELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNAMENT IF HE PLANS TO ATTEND A 2 OR 4 YEAR COLLEGE IN THE FALL OF 2008.


TOURNAMENT PLAYING RULES

1. National High School Federation rules will be followed with the few exceptions listed below.

2. Each player will be allowed a total of six (6) fouls before being disqualified.

3. All games will be played in two (2) sixteen (16) minute halves.

4. Overtime periods will be two (2) minutes in length. There will be 1 thirty-second timeout in overtime with no carryovers for each team. Each extra overtime period is 2 minutes with no timeouts allowed.

5. There will be a two (2) minute rest period between halves.

6. Teams will be allowed to call two (2) full timeouts and one (1) thirty-second timeout during the regulation game.

7. There will be no dunking allowed in warm-ups.

8. There will be a minimum five (5) minute warm-up period between games.

9. No game will begin before the time listed on the official game schedule.

10. All teams are expected to arrive for games prior to the scheduled start times. The amount of grace time that a team will be allowed and not have to forfeit their assigned game when they are not prepared to play at game time will be determined by the tournament committee based on all information available. If a team knowingly cannot play their game, they must notify the Tournament Director in advance.

11. All players must have high school eligibility remaining or be going into their first year of prep school, so that they are being recruited to enter college in the 2009-10 school year.

12. All players must be legal residents of the state in which the team is located or be legal residents from a geographically adjoining state. No more than a total of three (3) players from adjoining states may participate on any one tournament team.
