Fullcourt Press Southern California Pre-Summer Class of 2010:  Top 60 (July 6, 2008) Over the last week or so, we released our Pre-Summer Class of 2009 rankings based upon our five positional categories: (a) Centers/Post-Forwards, (b) Combo-Forwards, (c) Wing Forwards/Off-Guards, (d) Combo-Guards and (e) Point Guards.  These rankings reflect both current player talent level/skills as well as their “upside” or potential.  For purposes of these rankings: “Southern California” is the area bordering the Fresno area to the north and the Mexican Border to the south. We will start organizing the Class of 2010 into positional rankings in late August/early September – after we get a chance to see how they perform during the July recruiting period as well as we await the “arrival” of several other “unknown” players that may attract our attention. Listed below (in alphabetical order) are sixty of the top prospects in SoCal’s Class of 2010.  Bear in mind that this is an initial glimpse of the 2010 talent pool and this list will surely be expanded come September.                      2010 Top Prospects                                          (in alphabetical order)

*           Steven Adams                     6’7” Pasadena (Pasadena CA) Big and athletic post is one to track. *           Michael Atwater                  6’6” Villa Park (Villa Park CA) Lefty shooter with size is also a great student. *           Ethan Ayres                         5’11”  Mater Dei (Santa Ana CA) Fundamentally sound lead guard is a very good passer. *           Kacy Barlow                        6’3”     Diamond Bar (Diamond Bar CA) Agile wing can finish in transition.

*           Julian Benarouche             6’2”     Pacific Hills (Los Angeles CA) Very improved combo-guard is a player on the rise in this class. *           Kyle Boswell                       6’1”     Edison (Huntington Beach CA) Tough combo-guard has a legitimate perimeter stroke. *           Clint Bozner                         6’7”     Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita CA) Sharp-shooting forward has three-point range.

*           Anthony Brown                  6’5”     Ocean View (Huntington Beach CA) One of the fastest rising players in the nation, Brown is a tall and skilled lead guard that is also a year young for his grade.  Huge feet indicate that he may not be done growing.  Terrific student attended the Texas Elite Camp last weekend. *           Derek Brown                       6’1”     Chino Hills (Chino Hills CA) Talented lead guard has a tricky handle and lethal three-point shot. *           Deonta Burton                    6’2”     Centennial (Compton CA) Cabrillo (Long Beach CA) transfer is a strong and physical guard that can score.

*           Dominique Carr                  6’5”     JW North (Riverside CA) Multi-dimensional perimeter player has much promise. *           Miles Cartwright                 6’2”     Loyola (Los Angeles CA) Cerebral combo-guard has an accurate three-point stroke. *           Allen Crabbe                        6’3”     Price (Los Angeles CA) Excellent shooter with improving all-around game. *           Deandre Daniels                 6’7”     Taft (Woodland Hills CA) Renaissance Academy (La Canada CA) transfer is an athletic rebounder that runs the floor well.

*           Kurt Davis                            6’4”     Dominguez (Compton CA) Long wing is a crafty scorer. *           Tim Douglas                        5’9”     Mayfair (Lakewood CA) Quick PG has a nice dribble-pull up jump shot. *           Gary Franklin                       6’2”     Mater Dei (Santa Ana CA) Tough as nails lead guard has very deep range on his perimeter shot and does not back down to anybody!  When will the national scouts wake up and smell the coffee?

*           LeBradford Franklin          6’0”     Vista Murrieta (Temecula CA) Smart point has a smooth handle and is a pin-point passer. *           Kyle Fuller                            6’2”     Rancho Verde (Moreno Valley CA) Smart combo-guard is a solid defender. *           Tyler Funk                            6’0”     Orange Lutheran (Orange CA) Savvy playmaker has nice “shake and bake” ability.  Injury will keep him out of July action. *           Jordan Gathers                   6’2”     Loyola (Los Angeles CA) Physical guard uses his strength to penetrate defenses.  Uncle was the late great Hank Gathers.

*           Roy Gordon                         6’2”     Leuzinger (Lawndale CA) Strong guard has a scorer’s touch. *           Willie Hankins                     6’3”     Van Nuys (Van Nuys CA) Outstanding shooter has a strong physique. *           Hector Harold                      6’6”     Renaissance Academy (La Canada CA) Big wing has an accurate perimeter stroke. *           Brendan Holmes                6’0”     Marina (Huntington Beach CA) Terrific three-point shooter is the son of Marina head coach Roger Holmes

*           Dion Hudson                       5’10”  Bishop Amat (La Puente CA) Feisty point can handle the rock and run a team. *           Deon Jackson                     6’3”     Hoover (San Diego CA) Athletic slashing scorer is a stifling defender. *           Casey James                       6’3”     Capistrano Valley (Mission Viejo CA) J Serra (San Juan Capistrano CA) transfer is an excellent shooter.  Committed to San Diego. *           Kareem Jammar                 6’4”     Westchester (Los Angeles CA) Strong wing can really defend.

*           Avery Johnson                   6’3”     Ocean View (Huntington Beach CA) Long and athletic wing loves to defend and can get to the basket in a hurry. *           Deuce Johnson                  6’6”     Campbell Hall (North Hollywood CA) Athletic power-forward is active around the cup *           Austin Kelly                         6’2”     Harvard-Westlake (North Hollywood CA) Quick combo-guard can score in bunches. *           Keala King                           6’4”     Dominguez (Compton CA) Silky shooter is a good looking wing prospect in this class and a terrific student (4.0 GPA). *           Dennis Kramer                    6’8”     La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad CA) Skilled post has good footwork. *           Greg Latta                            6’5”     La Quinta (La Quinta CA) Very active forward loves to rebound.   *           Tyler Lamb                           6’5”     Colony (Ontario CA) Smooth shooter has really improved his body and quickness.  One of the nation’s best 2010 prospects at the off-guard position. *           Troy Leaf                              6’2”     Foothills Christian (El Cajon CA) Heady point knows how to run a team. *           Jordin Mayes                       6’2”     Westchester (Los Angeles CA) Skilled combo-guard has a good looking stroke. *           Kevin Mulloy                        6’7”     Oxnard (Oxnard CA) Athletic jumping jack attacks the basket with passion. *           Samuel Natt                         6’0”     Dorsey (Los Angeles CA) Solid defender is a slashing scorer. *           Ryan Okwudibonye           6’6”     Ocean View (Huntington Beach CA) Very improved post forward runs the floor well. *           Kevin Panzer                       6’7”     Capistrano Valley (Mission Viejo CA) Shooter with size has nice long-term upside. *           Nick Paulson                       6’0”     La Sierra (Riverside CA) Combo-guard can score. *           Dwayne Polee Jr.               6’6”     Westchester (Los Angeles CA) Very athletic pogo stick needs to improve skill level to reach full potential. *           Aqueel Quinn                      6’2”     Leuzinger (Lawndale CA) Skilled lead guard has a very nice handle. *           Johnny Ryan                       6’8”     El Segundo (El Segundo CA) Physical post rebounds well. *           Jordan Salley                      6’7”     La Verne Lutheran (La Verne CA) Strong and active power-forward is a load down low. *           Keith Shamburger             5’11”  La Verne Lutheran (La Verne CA) Speedy PG can really knock down perimeter shots. *           Cliff Sims                              6’4”     Compton (Compton CA) Athletic slashing scorer and good defender. *           Solomon Singer                 6’4”     Santa Monica (Santa Monica CA) Agile wing is an impressive slashing scorer. *           Kevin Smith                         5’11”  Dominguez (Compton CA) Undersized but incredible athlete is a harassing defender.   *           Tommy Stangl                    5’10”  J Serra (San Juan Capistrano CA) Tough point guard has high basketball IQ. *           Blake Stanton                     6’2”     Crespi (Encinos CA) Whirling scorer is an excellent defender. *           Jeremy Tyler                       6’10”  San Diego (San Diego CA) Dominant center was spectacular at the Pangos All-American Camp last month. *           Ervin Ware                           5’8”     Gahr (Cerritos CA)  Fast point can really apply fullcourt defensive pressure.  Brother Caspar is a Long Beach State signee. *           Darrius Williams                 6’7”     Jordan (Long Beach CA) Post man is not a finished product but he will rebound and has nice potential. *           Chayson Williams              6’3”     Dominguez (Compton CA)  Scrappy defender has a solid mid-range game. *           Kendall Williams                 6’2”     Los Osos (Rancho Cucamonga CA) Skilled playmaker (committed to UCLA) is the kind of quality person you want to run your team and marry your daughter. *           Trevor Wiseman                 6’6”     Golden Valley (Santa Clarita CA) Tall lead guard has versatile skills. *           Delon Wright                       6’1”     Leuzinger (Lawndale CA) Brother of Miami Heat swingman Dorrell Wright is an emerging athlete.
