Fullcourt Press Oklahoma Showcase
Featuress Top Oklahoma City HS Talent
By Etop Udo Ema

The 2nd Annual Fullcourt Press Oklahoma Showcase was highlighted by Kentucky commit 6-11 Daniel Orton who was virtually unstoppable on both ends of the floor.

The 2009 class in Oklahoma is very strong with Orton and 6-5 Xavier Henry but it looks like the next class with big time talent is 2011.

Here were the top players at the event.

2009

1.  Daniel Orton 6-10 (Bishop McGuiness) – Completely healthy from nagging injuries now showing signs of big time athleticism which is gonna make him scary at the next level. His perimeter game is very underappreciated as he can handle the ball and shoot the jumper. The best part of his game is his passing ability which goes virtually unnoticed as well. Future Pro.

2.  Joey Williamson 6-3 (Putnam City North) – Big time athlete who can finish with the best of them. Fearless competitor who plays hard on both ends. Solid combo guard who can really slash and get to the basket.

3.   Emilio Glover 6-3 (Douglass) – Big time athlete who really attacks the glass. Super toughkid who gets a lot done on both ends of the floor.

4.  Brandon Harris 6-1 (NW Classen) – Combo guard who really understands the game. Super solid guard who can play either position on the perimeter.

5.  Rolando Gardner 5-10 (John Marshall) – Cat quick point guard who can also shoot the jumpshot. Really pushes the ball in transition.

Other players of note: Coit Armstrong (Putnam City North), Kyler Patterson (Ringwood), Orion Palmer (Edmond Sante Fe), Brett Frantz (Balko).

2010

1.  Willie Lester 5-10 (Putnam City) – Starting point guard for the top team in the state. Superquick point guard who really understands the position. He can score if needed and really knows how to run a team. Has seen his recruitment skyrocket with a solid summer with Baylor, Witchita State, Tulsa and many others heavily involved.

2.   Hans Thun 6-4 - Solid 2 guard who can really stroke the jumper. Solid athlete who also finds other crafty ways to score.

3.  Darian Taylor 6-3 (Western Heights) – Super talented wing who has a chance to be real good. Coasts at times which hurts his productivity but nonetheless is a talent that has a chance.

4.   Blake Allen 6-5 (Rock Creek) – Do it all forward who just plays super hard all of the time. Solid all around player who just gets it done.

2011

1.  Dominique Raney 6-3 (Putnam City) – Starting wing with Xavier Henry on the top team in the state. Ranked top 50 nationally by Bob Gibbons already. Super athletic wing who can really get to the rack and finish. Will follow Henry as the next big time recruit out of Putnam City.

2.  Devonte Smith 5-10 (Douglass) – Super tough point guard who plays the game on both ends of the floor. Hard nosed defender and big time competitor who really knows how to run a team. Has a chance to be a mid to high major on his feel alone.

3.  Ronquis Lewis 6-5 (Midwest City) – Super long and rangy wing who has big time upside. Can really shoot the jumper and slash as well. Has a chance to test Dominique Raney for the top 2011 player in the state if he keeps developing. High Major talent.

4.  Josh Richardson 6-4 (Edmond Santa Fe) – Big time athlete who can score or run the show. Super competive combo who gets it done on both ends. Solid mid major guy who could challenge Raney and Lewis for the top 2011 spot.

5.  Kentrell Brothers 6-1 (Guthrie) – Solid do it all wing player with a big time body. Can do a little bit of everything on the post or perimeter. Super versatile.

Other players of note: Anthony Bolar (Classen), Cayveon Jones (NE Academy) 2012, Trey Taylor (Medford), Mikey Wilson (Bishop McGuiness) 2012, Preston Sullivan (Casady).
