2008 Fullcourt Press All-West Camp: Best of the Rest Report by Dinos Trigonis (August16, 2008) This summer’s Fullcourt Press All-West Camp was held on July 11-13 at the new HAX Hangar in Hawthorne CA.  The 11th version of the camp attracted 300-plus of the West Coast’s top prospects including players from California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi and Georgia.

Media/scouts present include Dinos Trigonis (Fullcourt Press & Hoop Scoop), Etop Udo-Ema (Fullcourt Press & Hoopmasters), Frank Burlison (Long Beach Press-Telegram & Scouthoops.com), Joel Francisco (ESPN.com), Patrick Stanwood (Hoop Scoop & Hoop Masters), Greg Hicks (Scouthoops.com), Ronnie Flores (Student-Sports.com), Gerry Freitas (Hoop Review), Matt Rodriguez (BallisLife.com), Nick Koza (SportsAmp.com), Dave Nahabedian (Networx), Dave Keefer & Dave Rogahn (California Preps), Alan Utter and Bob Jacoby (Hoop Scoop) and Lee Hubbard (NorCal Preps) while colleges coaches on hand included Ben Howland (UCLA), Tim Floyd (USC), Lorenzo Romar (Washington), Lon Kruger (UNLV), Craig Robinson (Oregon State), Jim Boylan (Utah), Steve Fisher (San Diego State), Mark Fox (Nevada), Karl Hobbs (George Washington), Billy Grier (San Diego), Steve Cleveland (Fresno State), Bob Burton (Cal State Fullerton), Tom Asbury (Pepperdine), Bob Williams (UC-Santa Barbara), Bobby Braswell (Cal State Northridge), Gary Stewart (UC-Davis), Jim Wooldridge (UC-Riverside), Brian Katz (Sacramento State), Mike Adras (Northern Arizona) and assistants from Arizona, Stanford, Washington State, Cal, Arizona State, Oregon, Louisville, Maryland, Marquette, Boston College, Gonzaga, West Virginia, Colorado, Air Force, UTEP, SMU, Colorado State, St. Mary’s and many others.  The level of talent on display again reaffirmed this event as the top regional camp in the West.   While we have previously discussed campers that were selected to the trio of Fullcourt Press All-West Camp "Cream of the Crop" games at the conclusion of the camp, several other players at this deep event also deserve mention including the following:

Ben Vozzola                                    6’4”     2010 Centennial (Las Vegas NV)  Skilled wing with an impressive court swagger can really put points on the board.  Very good student.   RJ Farrell                              6’3”     2009 Villa Park (Villa Park CA) Scrappy off-guard has legitimate range on his jump shot. Allan Banker                        6’2”     2009 Mayfair (Lakewood CA)    Savvy combo-guard has an impressive perimeter stroke.  Excellent student.

Brandan Walton                 6’1”     2009 King-Drew (Los Angeles CA) Solid PG has a dependable handle and is a real SoCal sleeper.   Anthony Cosentino           6’6”     2008 Otay Ranch (Chula Vista CA)  Strong and physical swingman can score.   Michael Mayes                    6’0”     2009 Poly (Long Beach CA)  Underrated point is quick off the dribble and a swarming defender.   Brandon Bibbins                5’9”     2009 Bishop Montgomery (Torrance CA) Smart lead guard had an excellent summer and can really run a team.

Dion Hudson                       5’9”     2010 Bishop Amat (La Puente CA)   Small but strong, quick and athletic playmaker has a water-proof handle and nice ability to beat defenders off the dribble.   Clayton Ragsdale              6’0”     2011 Corona del Mar (Newport Beach CA) Crafty PG has an excellent basketball IQ and a promising D-I skill package.   Chris Croom                        5’7”     2012 Dominguez (Compton CA) Water-bug point pushes the ball rapidly in transition.  A future star.

Nate Bullock                        6’4”     2010 Harvard-Westlake (North Hollywood CA) Very underrated athlete’s dunk over 6’10” rising junior Jeremy Tyler was one of the most talked about highlights of the camp.   Julius Von Hanzlik             6’5”     2009 Stoneridge (Stoneridge CA) Excellent shooter has a solid mid-range game.   Skyler Vaden                       6’2”     2008 Washington (Los Angeles CA) Slashing scorer is a tenacious defender.   Sean Hinkley                       6’7”     2009 West (Torrance CA)      Scrappy and skilled forward has nice “face-up” scoring ability.

Kendall Pride                      6’0”     2009 Agua Fria (Phoenix AZ)  High-scoring lead guard is also a good defender.   Tommy Stangl                    5’10”  2010 J Serra (San Juan Capistrano CA) Tough PG makes sound decisions.   Very good student.   Fredrick Wilson                  6’2”     2009 Franklin (Seattle WA) Tough defender is also a underrated rebounder for size.

Gabe York                            6’2”     2012 Orange Lutheran (Orange CA) Emerging talent in his class has enormous potential and the skills to be a top-flight recruit. Marcus Moody                    6’5”     2009 Dominguez (Compton CA) Sleeper forward is starting to attract D-I attention.   Trevor Warren                     6’5”     2009 Santa Clara (Oxnard CA) Big wing can score in transition.   Eric Norman                          6’5”     2011 Parker (San Diego CA) Young, but skilled swingman has much promise.

Clifford Sims                        6’4”     2010 Compton (Compton CA)  Athletic wing forward is ready to take his game to the next level this upcoming season.   Christian Garrett                 6’2”     2011 Campbell Hall (North Hollywood CA) Improving combo-guard has growing confidence in his scoring abilities.   Brandon Parga                   6’3”     2010 St. John Bosco (Bellflower CA)   Excellent shooter with an underrated handle.   Chinedu Amajoyi               6’3”     2010 Los Osos (Rancho Cucamonga CA)  Athletic wing runs floor well and can finish in transition.   Ryan Anderson                  6’5”     2011 Poly (Long Beach CA)      Rapidly improving forward has emerging multi-dimensional skills.   Kurt Davis                            6’4”     2010 Dominguez (Compton CA) Improving wing with solid all-around scoring ability.

CJ Cooper                            6’0”     2011 La Verne Lutheran (La Verne CA) Skilled point has excellent poise on the floor.   Andrew Castro                    6’10”  2008 Norco (Norco CA) Hard-working big man gets after it on the boards and can score on the block.   Eric Cooper Jr.                    5’10”  2013 Ontario CA Talented playmaker has great upside.  Father Eric (currently the head coach of La Verne Lutheran HS) is a former player at Arizona and UT-San Antonio.   Roschon Prince                 6’5”     2013 Hughes MS (Long Beach CA) Athletic and skilled young forward has a world of potential.   Andre Hatchett                    6’5”     2010 Santa Rita (Tucson AZ) Active swingman scores well along the baseline.   Jovan Pearson                   6’5”     2011 Cabrillo (Long Beach CA) Athletic defender is an intriguing prospect in this class.   LaRon Merriner                   6’5”     2010 Alta Loma (Alta Loma CA) Strong and athletic rebounder and defender.   Andrew Arzouman             6’5”     2010 Salpointe (Tucson AZ)   Skilled forward has range on his perimeter shot.   John Ryan                           6’8”     2010 El Segundo (El Segundo CA) ”Tough as nails” post bangs well in the paint.     Brandon Ward                    5’11”  2009 Woodcrest Christian (Riverside CA) Solid PG makes few mistakes.  Good student.   Ben and is a pin-point passer.   Marshawn McMahon         6’0”     2011 Compton (Compton CA)   Crafty floor-general has impressive court vision.     Joshua Johnson                6’0”     2009 Diamond Ranch (Diamond Bar CA) Aggressive lead guard gives maximum effort and is a reliable ballhandler.    Raynard Tyler                     6’1”     2010 Jordan (Long Beach CA) Scrappy guard has a nose for the ball and the quickness to get to the cup off dribble.   KJ Smith                               5’11”  2011 Campbell Hall (North Hollywood CA) Developing young point is getting stronger which should help his effectiveness this upcoming season.   Drew Hering                                    6’0”     2010 Sandia (Albuquerque NM)  Solid combo-guard has nice courts instincts.   John Hegwood Jr.             6’0”     2012 Mountain Park (Calgary CAN)  Young guard has potential to be a fine player.  Father is a Gary IN native who starred at San Francisco and played professionally north of
